The company was founded in early 2003 by Jacob Y. Wong, a self-described entrepreneur and idea person. The name of the company, Gamelot, is inspired by Camelot, the legendary court of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
Today we are living amidst the dawning of the so-called Information Age. For the new generation of youngsters brought up on fast-paced video and computer games, many traditional board games, such as Monopoly®, Scrabble®, Risk® etc. are getting a bit tired and have therefore limited appeal. However, modern multimedia games are not suitable replacements, according to most parents. In many cases, children are not mature enough to handle the themes and images. And when the games are suitable, children tend to isolate themselves in front of a screen while they play.
One of Gamelot's missions is to fill this void in the games market for children between ages 4 and up. The goal is to come with new and really fun traditional board games, blended with a touch of the latest multimedia video hi-tech, to provide children with tasteful and fun experiences that they can share with one another and with families. Gamelot believes that children will always love animals, adventures, mysteries and new discoveries like space exploration and travel. Furthermore, Giant Pandas, dinosaurs, dolphins and whales will always have a place in their hearts. Gamelot's strategy is to strive to design fun and exciting games for them in order to fill this void in the games market.
